If you walk for more than 30 minutes at a time, you probably will not feel too tired (i.e., the tiredness that is a result of your lack of exercise is absent from your feeling). 

On the other hand, if you want to start a diet program, there are many options you can consider. Do you want a diet which can help you become thinner, but is less likely to help you lose a healthy portion of weight? Or do you want a diet that will help you control your weight, but is also likely to help you keep your new, ideal weight?

The goal of the diet/exercise program is to make your lifestyle more convenient or possible for you, and in this way you will lose weight. You should talk with your doctor before you start your diet and weight loss program. Then your doctor will be able to evaluate whether the plan you are considering is safe for you.

There is a diet plan called the Atkins diet that is currently the best that has been created to help you lose weight in a safe way that is sustainable for you.
