How much water do you need to drink to lose weight?

How much water do you need to drink to lose weight? As a rule of thumb, researchers calculate the ideal serving size based on your BMR. The BMR is a measurement of the energy your body needs to sustain itself. For females, your BMR is 64 ounces, for males, it’s 75 ounces. Based on this, your daily recommendation is divided by the number of calories you eat in a day, and this number is the number of water ounces you should drink to lose weight. For example, if you eat 2000 calories per day, you’d need 100 ounces of water per day to maintain your weight.

While it is often assumed that eating less calories will make people lose weight quickly, this is only partially correct. Losing weight requires a number of other factors, including a balanced, calorie-controlled diet, exercise, and monitoring portion sizes. Read on for more information.

How much water does an adult need each day to lose weight? There are conflicting reports on the matter and lots of myths - as this article states.

But it's hard to lose weight if you're not drinking enough. I'm assuming if you have a glass of water at each meal and several throughout the day, that should be enough? Obviously, if you're trying to lose weight, water will help to move it off - but I'm also assuming that it's not a good idea to add an extra 50+ oz to a day, right? You'd rather have more food and less drink, and vice-versa - isn't that true?

Drinking water before, during and after a workout is important, but there are times when it's just not possible. What should you do? It seems that adding fluids to an already full bladder can make you feel even more stuffed than you already do.

A small glass of water will fill you up completely, and it's unlikely you'll even want to drink more during a workout.

My water intake is not low at all. I have been researching the topic for a long time now and believe it is a myth that everyone should start drinking 12-24 oz per day. That is completely wrong. I personally drink my required intake very early in the morning but some can even drink a little more than that.

I always have tea or juice in the morning, no water at breakfast and water with lunch, dinner and tea at night. I do have some snacks with high-calorie but good for you calories.

I never drink water with breakfast or at other times of the day. If I'm hungry, I eat some kind of a low-calorie snack/meal, like an apple, a bit of fruit, granola bar.

I don't use any electrolyte tablets. I've got an electrolyte drink for my runs. But on very hot days, I switch back to sports drink or drink a glass of water with the sugar.

I think one should limit water consumption to 2 liters/day. So, in general I think that we should be careful with how much water we drink.

The human body needs a certain amount of water to keep it running and the amount of water intake needed to lose weight depends on the person’s age, weight and height. With this fact we can see how crucial having enough hydration is.

If you don’t remember or just don’t want to count your water intake right now, here are a few suggestions how to increase your water intake to lose weight, which you can add to your daily routine.

Less food

This is a great idea to increase your water intake naturally, without any effort. Most people are aware of the fact that they eat too much food and often than needed.

As a result of excess food, the body receives too much glucose as energy and as a result, the body stores the excess food to burn later on.

To start reducing the calories we suggest to simply stop buying food in supermarkets, or better, switch to preparing your meals at home. This way you will not be tempted to buy food on the way home and the food waste will go directly to the garbage.

Cut down on sugar

If you can, try cutting down on sugar and other sweeteners in your diet, which will help with your weight loss efforts. They contain a large amount of calories and add extra to your daily water intake.

If you are in the beginning of the detox phase of your weight loss journey, it may be a bit difficult to reduce the amount of sugar you drink, as you will notice a lot of symptoms.

If this is the case for you, you should have water instead of sugar or any other sweetener.

Drink herbal tea for weight loss

You can combine different herbs, like peppermint, lemon balm, chamomile, etc., to create a tea which will help in the weight loss process. The combination will have a great influence on your digestion system, which in turn will lower the overall calorie content of the diet and, therefore, help with weight loss.

Increase your calorie needs

If your diet is lacking in energy, you can make up for the lack by eating more food or by taking supplements.

You can also try working out longer and faster than usual. This way you will increase your energy and thus increase the calorie content of your diet.
